I’m a photographer based in Houston, TX that specializes in sophisticated wedding and high school senior photography.
The Farmhouse Wedding and Event Venue located in Montgomery, Texas is the dreamiest of locations for an inspiring editorial. On this sunny day in August of 2021, I met up with another talented photographer, Gaby Childers, from Florida. Gaby was a student in my one on one coaching program since January. Part of this program is teaching how to design and develop a styled shoot from start to finish. Together we worked for months building this dream team of vendors and designing and planning this editorial. It did not disappoint! We were so pleased with all the magic and beauty our friendors created. It was the best day!
The Farmhouse is truly one of my favorite wedding venues! The all white chapel and all white reception space has so much natural light and beauty, it is a photographer’s dream. Flatlays and detailed shots are some of my favorites. While the florist and planner were setting up, I created flatlays to show off the lovely invitation suite and menu cards created by Mercedes with Le Reve Paperie created. For this editorial, Mercedes shared that the inspiration for this stationery was largely drawn from French floral patterns and rustic European oil paintings which had a dreamy, ethereal quality to them. She wanted to bring a soft, elegant and airy feel to the stationery, so a combination of delicately inked florals, handmade cotton paper and a touch of gold really breathed life into this suite. It was such an honor to photograph all this beauty for her.
On this day, we were able to celebrate the birthday of our model, Aly. Aly is a fantastic photographer on my team so I was overjoyed when she said she and her husband Alex wanted to model. Samantha with Polished Hair and Makeup and her team always create hair and makeup that is perfection. The stunning dress from Evoke Bridal in Pearland, Texas is Adore by Justin Alexander and the style is Allegra in the color sand/ivory/nude. This strapless, sweetheart slim ball gown with exposed boning was a dream. It boasted a Chantilly underlay, and contemporary leafy beaded appliqués that cascaded down the tulle skirt. It is finished with tulle covered buttons down the back of the bodice and a lightweight sweep length train.
The bouquet was sweet and simple with lots of hellebore. It paired beautifully with the ornate gown. With the statement floral backdrop, it was best to leave the bouquet small. Small definitely does not equal boring!
Kim, with Good as Gold Weddings, is a fabulous planner and I felt so blessed to connect with her since she recently relocated from Colorado. This tablescape, with rentals and linens from What’s The Occasion, was designed around the words “Classic Picnic”. Kim wanted to create something that was both. We used the slate blue linen as it reminded us of a fun natural color you would enjoy in the outdoors while having a picnic. Kim then brought in the formal, more classic place setting with a variety of textures to balance the overall feel of the table setting. The beautiful floral compote was the perfect finishing touch for the look we were going for!
Bree with All Around the Kitchen has such great vision. She wanted the drama of the cake to come from texture and a pop of color and fruit to tie in the soft palette chosen for this day. Cake can define beauty in so many ways and Bree loves starting with a blank canvas and ending up here with a cake that people will not only have a hard time looking away from, but also impossible to stop eating. Let me just say, we ate this cake at the end of the shoot and it was delicious!
When Amanda with Amanda Bee Floral and I started chatting about the design for this editorial, we knew we wanted something unique and different. Amanda wanted to incorporate candles into an arch design along with the flowers. Flowers absolutely can stand on their own, but sometimes it’s nice to shake things up and bring in another element. The floating globes were such a unique touch to this installation. Amanda is simply beyond talented! Amanda had preordered the beautiful garden roses as the luxury/focal flowers then added the fabulous almond branches to bring more movement into the arch design. With candles and rose petals on the floor surrounding the arch, it was the most romantic set up!
Aly and Alex were so joyful it was easy to capture their love for each other. We embraced the gorgeous reception space and took our time photographing. It is nice to have time to be creative during a styled shoot without the rush of a real wedding day. After cutting the cake and a little toast, we roamed the luscious grounds outdoors at The Farmhouse.
