I’m a photographer based in Houston, TX that specializes in sophisticated wedding and high school senior photography.
I’ll admit it. The photography business can be incredibly saturated. It’s SO important, when there are tons of incredible photographers around, to make sure you stand out among the rest! 👏 So, let me share with you three ways I’ve found success when it comes to knowing how to stand out in your senior photography market. Each of these tips will help you to formulate a name for yourself and gain a loyal clientele.
Create a personal brand & use connection points in your marketing
Your personal brand is a representation of both you personally and professionally, it’s what helps your audience build a relationship with you! It’s important to first determine your “why”. What are your goals? How do customers feel after working with you? Your brand should hone in on your strengths, and what kind of audience you want to attract! That being said, branding doesn’t have to be all “business.” It’s supposed to be fun too! That’s when connection points come in. Your connection points can have nothing to do with photography, but instead can be special personality traits of yours someone else can relate to (for example, I am quite literally -obsessed- with queso). Favorite foods, shows, movies, activities, and music are some other great examples! This is a way for potential customers to connect with you outside of your service offerings.
Find a unique offering to add to your experience
THIS is one of the key ways you will stand out among others in the business. What will a customer get with you they couldn’t receive anywhere else? Maybe it’s a unique style guide, complimentary printing services, or partnering with a hair and makeup company, or a local boutique! Adding on an extra service along with what you’re already offering is a GREAT way to make your customer’s experience stand out. Another option is to keep your benefits digital. Maybe you offer rapid turnaround times, blog posts, an exclusive Facebook Group…It can help to try to think from the customer’s perspective. What would YOU want that you’re not finding elsewhere? That could be your unique offer!!
Utilize a Senior Rep Team to set yourself apart
Y’all…I could talk about my Senior Rep team all day. They are the BEST! Not only is it so fun to work with so many wonderful upcoming and current seniors each year, but this is a super smart way to set yourself apart. Starting a Senior Rep Team was one of the best things I ever did to grow my business. Your team is solely there to represent YOU! How great is that? A Rep team is a key tool to spread the word about your business, and encourage others to book with you. It’s the perfect way to elevate your brand & stand out in the senior photography market!
I really hope you’ve found this helpful! These tips have made a huge difference for me and I know they can help you too! Just remember, stay true to yourself and what you want your business to represent, throw in some hard work and carefully thought out marketing techniques and you are SET!
