I’m a photographer based in Houston, TX that specializes in sophisticated wedding and high school senior photography.
Addison Woods wedding venue is such a dream! So much that, I had to have a second styled shoot there, because one was just not enough. However, my intent for this styled shoot was different. This shoot was to film for an online course I am launching in February 2021. My adrenaline was pumping the whole day! I simply love styled shoots and am so excited to teach other photographers how to put one together, from beginning to end. This day is one I had been dreaming of and envisioning for over a year. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
Nestled in the woods, sits a family owned gem!!! One of the newest venues in the Houston proper, Addison Woods is where southern charm meets luxury! It is warm and welcoming from the moment you step on the grounds. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a warm smile from the delightful owner, Kady. I was thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with her again. Her team takes amazing care of their clients and vendors. Brides, rest assured, your wedding day at Addison Woods will be spectacular!
As the incredible vendors started arriving, my team got to work! While I could just hang out all day and chat with these fabulous vendors, because they all have amazing stories, my studio manager kept me on my timeline. Timelines for styled shoots, especially when filming, are essential. Just as an unattended timeline can throw off a wedding day, the same goes for a styled shoot.
Flat lay details were up first. The invitation suite provided by Maria at SoCraftyStudio was heavenly. The soft edged paper included a striking monogram and a flowing, soft ribbon. The interior flap of the soft pink envelope displayed the Addison Woods wedding venue reception barn. Truly, it was one of a kind! Maria went all out including a lovely wax seal on the menu card and two love letters with the most elegant calligraphy.
After filming the flatlays with the incredible Angela Lauren Co. Films, we moved to the tablescape. Designed by Nikki at My Event Angels, this tablescape was dreamy! A gorgeous lace tablecloth plus the charming Addison Woods farmhouse tables were the perfect combination to set the romantic and elegant tone for this beautiful reception space. The fabulous centerpieces were designed by Hannah with Cali and Bloom Floral Artistry. Imagine all your wedding guests dining here. A dream come true!
Tucked away in the two-story bridal suite, were our models, Jordan and Chase. Jordan is a talented photographer, and drop dead gorgeous. While she has her own thriving photography business, Jordan Kurtin Photography, she is also part of my associate team. When she and her husband agreed to model for us, I was overjoyed. She made my job today so easy! She and Chase were naturals in front of the camera.
Anita with Rogued + Radiant Beauty Co. provided hair and makeup. Anita is such a delight to work with. Not only did she create the perfect look for Jordan,, she helped her into the most breathtaking wedding gown from Mia Bridal Couture. I am so appreciative when vendors jump in and go above and beyond! Thank you, Anita!
We all know that photographers live for cake on a wedding day. At least I do! I was fifteen when I hosted my first styled shoot. I will never forget walking into Cakes By Gina and meeting Gina. She shook my hand and said, “Ummm how old are you?” I replied I was fifteen and she chuckled, commenting that I was really “young for the industry”. Nevertheless, she said she believed in me and gave me a chance. Three years later, we have come full circle and here we are together collaborating again.
Cakes by Gina is incredible! Their cakes are so unique and absolutely delicious. Adorned with handcrafted sugar flowers, this five tier cake was covered in fondant with pink ombre airbrush and swiss dot detailing. Truly, it was a stunner!
Hannah, owner of Cali and Bloom, wanted to create a twist on the light and airy color scheme of this bouquet by including the delicate and reflexed mauve Cafe Latte rose. This star of the show, combined with a light peach David Austin Garden rose and white majolica spray roses, set the theme of a lush spring. Topping it off with a pop of light blue from a few Iris’, muted eucalyptus greenery and long flowing fern – we were able to capture an effortless and organic flow of color.
The Addison Woods wedding venue Laura May Chapel, with its white walls plus the perfect amount of natural light, is a photographer’s dream!! Cali and Bloom knocked it out of the park with the floral arch installation and wedding bouquet. Can you tell it was raining outside for most of the day? You’d never know from the inside of the venue!
Setting the tone was the off-white antique scroll arch. To enhance its English Garden feel, Hannah included a collection of soft greenery, white spider mums and a few white spray roses to let the colors of the bold flowers shine. These grounding flowers allowed the pinks from a profound Double Rose Lily and peaches from the David Austin roses to draw your eyes.
Everything about this day meant so much to me. The team at Reed Gallagher Photography is so appreciative of this dream team of vendors and forever grateful for their talents, friendship and support! Be on the lookout for announcements about my course launch in February.
