I’m a photographer based in Houston, TX that specializes in sophisticated wedding and high school senior photography.
You are engaged! Yay! It is time to start touring venues! There are so many fabulous venues in and around Houston. If you envision your wedding day to be straight out of a fairytale storybook, in a castle, with the royal treatment, Citadel Houston wedding venue is the place for you!
Located in Houston, just off of 288 South, sits the most gorgeous full service wedding venue modeled after a Scottish castle. When I drove up to tour Citadel in preparations for an Elevate and Educate styled shoot I was hosting, I was truly taken back by its beauty. I definitely did not feel like I was in Houston, Texas. It felt so grand!! The grounds were impressive!! I experienced so many emotions and that was before I even walked in through the massive, wooden front doors!
As I entered, I was warmly greeted by Rebecca and Kellsie! With passion and experience, they ensure every bride and groom receive the royal treatment. Their personal attention to detail is top knotch! And, they will welcome you in like family. They sure made me feel right at home.
Citadel Houston wedding venue is where contemporary meets elegance. The entry boasts a waterfall wall that is not only relaxing, it serves as a nice backdrop for photographs. Offering options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies, I love the magic of the indoor Kingsley Enclave. The natural light here is heavenly. You can certainly make a statement with florals in this ceremony space! Or, if you prefer to use their stunning outdoor ceremony space, you can host cocktail hour here. Guests will be awed by the beauty of this room while your first portraits as husband and wife are being captured outside on the romantic Citadel grounds. Here are a few photos of the ceremony space designed by Mariela at Casa De Flores Designs. Wedding dress provided by one of our industry gems, Kelly at Love and Lace Texas.
I have seen a lot of breathtaking staircases. But let me tell you, this one is immaculate! Imagine yourself walking hand in hand with your spouse through the secret room taking you to the top of the stairs, then being introduced as husband and wife as you descend down these stairs to greet your guest! Now this is an entrance no one will forget!!!
The Kingsley Ballroom can host receptions from 150-500+ guests. There is plenty of space for a sweetheart table or a large head table. We chose to create a sweetheart table with the help of Brandi at Laced With Grace Events and Lavish Linens Houston. It was a romantic touch that any bride and groom would love! The ballroom itself is so spacious! There is plenty of room for a big dance floor so you can dance the night away.
A unique aspect of Citadel is their award-winning culinary team, led by a James Beard Semi-finalist, Ross Coleman, serving the finest of cuisine. There is no need to find your own catering company. Hands down, this team is the best! Even more impressive, they partner with Second Servings, a non-profit organization, and donate all the left-over food. Now that is something we can all stand behind!!
On the day of my tour, I noticed some beautiful gold shelving units in the ballroom. Immediately drawn to them, I envisioned using it as a dessert display. Brandi at Laced with Grace Events created this unique dessert display bringing my vision to life! Jesi at Dolci Designs knocked it out of the park with these stunning cake and desserts. The best part–we got to eat the desserts after the event and they were outstanding!
Other unique features of the Citadel include a luxurious lounging area outside the ballroom where your guest can roam and enjoy the evening. And, I should mention, the bride and groom suites look like they are straight out of a Scottish castle! There is plenty of space for you to relax and get ready for your big day! Our friends at BP Artistry did an amazing job with hair and makeup for our couples!
Citadel Houston Wedding Venue is a great place for your engagement session photos. Our models, Madi and Josh, were actually engaged!
And, finally, here are a few of our detailed shots. Citadel Houston has sooo much natural light, it was easy capturing beauty with our flatlays designs. Our invitation suite was created by the talented McKenzie at Paper Tie Affair. And, every princess needs shoes from Bella Belle!
