Houston Engagement Session with High School Sweethearts

How many high school sweethearts do you know that actually get married? It happens right! Can we say marriage goals!! Maddie and Wes are high school sweethearts! Maddie and Wes recently got engaged at Buffalo Bayou Park so it was only fitting we did their engagement photos there. The weather was perfect and these two lovebirds were a complete delight.

Five minutes into the session, I knew I was completely blessed and grateful that God had our paths cross. All having grown up in Pearland, but not knowing each other, we realized we actually had some friends in common.  My sister was in high school theater with Maddie’s  sister. My mom plays tennis with Wesley’s mom. But, none of us had every met until this session. It’s a small world, right! We had the best time roaming around Buffalo Bayou and enjoying the Houston skyline. 

The Proposal

Maddie and Wes met in junior high but did not start dating until high school. Seven years later, Wes knew it was time to propose. Wes planned a picnic in the park and recruited Maddie’s twin sister, Alex and her boyfriend, D. to be in on the surprise. Now Wes had asked Maddie to the picnic two weeks prior to the engagement. That’s a pretty long time to hold in the big secret! 

The morning of the picnic, the group was about to depart when Alex said he needed to go back to his apartment to grab a few things. Maddie thought nothing of it. She and Wes headed to Buffalo Bayou Park and started walking to their picnic spot. What Maddie didn’t know was the weekend before Wes and D went to “work out” in the park, when actually they were simply scouting the perfect picnic location.

As they  walked to the location, Maddie said Wes  was talking about how he had just bought a speaker for outside and was super excited to listen to it. When they finally got to the spot, Wes said “lets go a little bit further out so we can get a good view of downtown”. When they got out in the open Wes started playing Maddie’s dream wedding song “You and I” by Michael Buble. And what do you think happened? Yep–Maddie started BAWLING.  Maddie said it was magical, perfect, and absolutely beautiful. And, of course, she said yes! Alex and D. joined them to celebrate and toast the newly engaged couple. 

GIG ‘EM

Maddie and Wes are both graduates of Texas A & M University. WHOOP! They are huge fans of Aggie football! They enjoy being outside and taking walks, especially around Buffalo Bayou where they will live nearby.  One of the things I love most about Maddie and Wesley is how much they love and cherish their families! Spending time with them ranks high on their priority list!

Maddie is the Restaurant Marketing Director at Chick-fil-A Pearland Parkway and can not wait to marry the man of her dreams! Wesley is a tax accountant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and is looking forward to their wedding at Jennings Trace in November 2021.
