I’m a photographer based in Houston, TX that specializes in sophisticated wedding and high school senior photography.
When Allison, a senior at St. Agnes Academy, reached out to schedule her outdoor senior pictures Houston, I knew the Arboretum would be the perfect location for her. Allison’s love for nature was clear from the start. “From looking at pictures on your Instagram and website, my favorites are the pictures that feature nature. I love greenery, trees, and flowers. I am hoping that the photos show my personality,” she shared. With that in mind, we planned her session to highlight the beauty of the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center’s natural setting.
It was the most beautiful day for this spring session. The weather was ideal, with clear skies and just the right amount of sunlight filtering through the trees. The Houston Arboretum, known for its lush greenery and vibrant flora, provided a stunning backdrop for Allison’s outdoor senior pictures. The combination of blooming flowers and towering trees created an enchanting setting that perfectly matched Allison’s vision.
Allison came prepared with a few meaningful props for her session: a Texas Aggie rally towel and a lovely pink and white floral bouquet. She also knew she wanted to capture the iconic Aggie thumbs-up in a picture or two, adding a personal touch that celebrated her future plans.
Despite her initial concerns about posing, Allison was a natural in front of the camera. “I’m not the best at knowing how to pose for pictures and I tend to look/feel awkward when I don’t know how to pose. I’m not too worried though because I know y’all are experts and will be great at helping me pose! I am super excited because this is my first time having professional photos taken!” she confessed. This is a common sentiment among high school seniors, but our team at Reed Gallagher Photography has you covered. We provide easy and concise instructions to ensure you feel free and natural, not rigid in any way. By the end of the session, Allison’s confidence was soaring.
Allison is deeply involved in her school and community. She participates in Varsity Choir, Preaching Team, Youth Group Leadership, and voice lessons. Additionally, she volunteers weekly at her church to help teach middle schoolers and organizes retreats for her school. This summer, she will be working at a camp for kids. Her diverse interests and activities reflect her energetic, driven, and authentic personality.
In her own words, Allison describes herself as “energetic, enjoys trying new things, creative, artistic, driven, authentic, fun, courageous, and enthusiastic.” These traits shone through during her session, making each photo a true representation of who she is. Her love for pastel colors, getting dressed up for special events, listening to music on Spotify, and capturing moments with her phone or Polaroid camera were all elements we aimed to reflect in her senior pictures.
Throughout the session, Allison’s excitement was contagious. “I am so excited for senior photos!!!” she exclaimed. Her enthusiasm and willingness to embrace the experience made the shoot enjoyable and memorable. The Houston Arboretum’s serene environment and Allison’s joyful spirit combined to create beautiful, timeless photos.
Congratulations, Allison, on your graduation! It is been our honor capturing this milestone for you. Good luck at Texas A&M University. You are going to soar at the Mays Business School. Keep in touch!
