I’m a photographer based in Houston, TX that specializes in sophisticated wedding and high school senior photography.
This September Bluebird Haven Estates wedding was a dream come true for Dennum and Thomas! Located in Madisonville, Texas, Bluebird Haven Estates was created from the heart of an artist with the intent of bringing romance to the soul. This tucked away bit of paradise is filled with live oak trees and plush grounds. And, of course, bluebirds! Dennum and Thomas envisioned their wedding day to be a combination of garden style with a flair of whimsical elegance with a touch of vintage feel.
The RGP Team had the best time with these two and the day ran smoothy from beginning to end. Dennum, being a wedding planner herself, had everything organized and was able to enjoy her day. The weather forecast was filled with rain, but Dennum was prepared. She had rented a tent for the outdoor ceremony, just in case. The set up was absolutely stunning and adorned with gorgeous florals. The gray skies didn’t stop us from getting amazing portraits throughout the day. Honestly, the sky was a color that absolutely highlighted the dusty blue of the bridesmaids dresses! It was such a blessing though, that rain never fell from the sky.
For every wedding, I ask the bride to have all her bridal details together before my team arrives. Dennum was so prepared. She had her dress hanger, shoes, veil, the rings, bouquet, invitation suite and everything ready to go. It was such a treat because she also had a special ring box as well as other items she wanted photographed. Gathering these together beforehand made the detail shots super efficient!
We absolutely love when brides incorporate sentimental details into their big day! Dennum included a very special heirloom: her great grandmother’s handkerchief. For something new, Dennum’s mother gifted her a James Avery charm that was a stork carrying a blue cloth. Her something borrowed was a beautiful pair of earrings her mom wore on her own wedding day. She pinned both of these to her bouquet. Thomas’s mom gifted her a garter with blue jewels. Thomas wore a fossil watch Dennum gave him when they first got together as a bribe gift to get her to go to her senior prom (which he DID NOT want to go to). Clearly, the bribe worked :).
Dennum had the absolute sweetest bridesmaids by her side! They were all smiles as they enjoyed each other’s company getting ready. They shared a champagne toast and laughed and reminisced about all the times they shared together. Dennum and Thomas exchanged love letters and reading hers from Thomas brought her to tears. Such a special moment. Dennum’s step-dad was her calming rock throughout the entire day! Together they shared a very special first look!
Decked out in blue, Thomas was all smiles! He had his best friends by his side keeping him calm and relaxed before the ceremony. He waited with anticipation for the moment to arrive when he would finally see the woman of his dreams walk down the aisle in her wedding gown and become his wife.
Dennum designed the most beautiful outdoor tent set up. All week the weather predicted 100% rain. And honestly, we thought it might rain during the ceremony. But, the skies cleared and everything about this intimate ceremony was so lovely. One of Dennum’s favorite moments of the day happened during the ceremony. She shared:
“It was when he turned around at the ceremony! I was very overwhelmed by a lot of emotion but the look on his face was just so happy I wanted to lose it. We have been best friends for YEARS and for us to finally become one was the best feeling ever.”
Thomas was ear to ear grins when he saw his bride for the first time. She literally took his breath away!
Bluebird Haven Estate is absolutely stunning when it comes to capturing newlywed portraits! We roamed the lovely grounds and we continued to escape the rain. The amount of love and laughter as the wedding party cheered Thomas and Dennum on and stood by their sides was such an inspiration. They are both loved by so many. It was obvious how cherished they are by their family and friends.
Everything came together on this day just as Dennum had been dreaming of. Their first dance to At Last by Etta James, the toast and visiting with all their family and friends was beyond their wildest dreams. Dennum had one final surprise up her sleeve: a cigar rolling bar for Thomas. It was such a cool, unique gift for him! After the dinner and cake, the guest danced the night away. After a private last dance, Thomas and Dennum ran through streamers with their guest cheering them on and wishing them well as they drove off to begin their new life together.
