I’m a photographer based in Houston, TX that specializes in sophisticated wedding and high school senior photography.
It was a perfect day in Sugar Land, Texas for this outdoor, black and white Sugar Creek Country Club wedding with stunning red roses. With all the romantic and elegant vibes, this magical day was filled with sentimental details from beginning to end. Maddie and Reed chose Sugar Creek Country Club for their special day because it was like home to them. Lifelong members, Maddie has been coming here since she was a small child. Over the years, Reed joined them in the family fun. It was only natural that this would be the place they vowed to become husband and wife. It was the perfect blend of nature and elegance for this beautiful wedding.
Maddie choose to get ready at her family’s home which was just a few minutes from Sugar Creek Country Club. With her best friends by her side in matching pajamas, there were lots of giggles and laughter. Maddie’s wedding dress was gorgeous! She loved that it was filled with sparkles. The under layer had a soft shimmer to go along with all the shining floral details. Incorporating treasured items, Maddie’s “something borrowed” was her sister’s wedding veil. Equally special, her “something blue” was a sapphire ring her grandmother gave to her that was sewn into her dress.
Maddie and her dad shared a father daughter first look that was so sweet. With tears in his eyes, her dad was overwhelmed by the beauty of his daughter. He was gleaming with pride! It was easy to see what a special bond these two share.
Maddie and Reed choose to share a first look. I am a huge fan of first looks! These moments are some of the only ones you will share all alone on your wedding day. It is such an intimate and sacred time, and it helps calm the nerves. I always ask our couples how they felt in that moment when they saw their soon to be spouse for the first time.
Reed shared, “I was nervous for the first look. I knew she was going to be beautiful but I didn’t know what to expect. I knew it was going to be a huge moment for both of us. When I saw her, I was blown away but also relieved to see her because she’s my person.” Maddie said, “I felt totally the same! I was so relieved to see him and he looked so handsome. I just wanted to stay there just us forever because I had so much nervous energy about the day and he always makes me feel calm. He’s my person!”
While a first look isn’t for every couple, it does have advantages. Since Maddie and Reed chose to have a first look, we were able to capture portraits with their bridal party before the ceremony leaving them extra time to enjoy their reception. With the bridal party cheering them on, we roamed the grounds at Sugar Creek Country Club celebrating their love for each other.
The weather was lovely for this outdoor wedding! The setting was picture perfect. Maddie’s mom created the stunning, red rose arbor and it meant the world to Maddie. She felt like a princess walking down the aisle to the man of her dreams.
After the wedding ceremony, I am not sure who was beaming more, Maddie & Reed or the sun! Either way, it was simply perfect. We were able to enjoy the plush, green grounds and capture the radiant sunlight.
Maddie and Reed planned every detail so that it truly reflected their unique personalities. Tables were adorned with photographs of the two them, couples photos and photos of them growing up. Photographs of their parents and grandparents from their own wedding day were displayed throughout. Reed and Maddie were very intentional about getting to have some “alone” time during dinner at their sweetheart table filled with roses. They enjoyed the amazing food and loved watching their guest visit and have a wonderful time. It was important for them to greet each guest at the wedding, so the newlyweds made sure to visit guests at every table.
Maddie and Reed planned a longer reception, so we carved out time during the reception for the newlyweds to share a few minutes alone, sparklers included. We whisked them outside to get these beautiful photographs. After, they spent the evening dancing the night away with their guests.
Let me share some valuable advice from Reed and Maddie for engaged couples planning a wedding:
“As far as planning the wedding: try to stay organized, but don’t kill yourself worrying about some things slipping through the cracks. Take moments to enjoy just being engaged and focusing on the romantic bubble you’re in! Don’t get too caught up in planning the coolest most perfect wedding… remember that it’s all about celebrating your love! On the wedding day: just relax and let go! Put someone you trust in charge of the day-of coordination, and sit back and enjoy it. We tried really hard to just be in the moment that day, and I’m so glad we did! It still felt like a blur, and it went by so fast, but it was so much fun to just focus on celebrating!”
Congratulations, Maddie and Reed! Thank you for entrusting the Reed Gallagher Photography team to capture your wedding day. It has been an honor! Wishing you years of happiness and joy ahead.
