I’m a photographer based in Houston, TX that specializes in sophisticated wedding and high school senior photography.
If I could only choose one word to describe this fantastic engagement session with Alyssa and J.C., it would be laughter! Lots of laughter! Ok – and dance moves! J.C. had all the right moves twirling his bride around and around. Alyssa, a graduate of The University of Texas and J.C., graduate of Texas A&M University, met four years ago when Alyssa and her twin sister took a road trip to College Station to visit her sister’s boyfriend, now fiance, who just happened to be best friends with J.C. Introductions were made and the rest is history. After a few road trips between Austin and College Station, Alyssa and J.C. knew they were a match made in heaven!
So how did J.C. pop the question? Knowing how much Alyssa loved Austin, J.C. planned a perfect Eastern weekend getaway in Austin which would end with a surprise proposal. The day began with wine tasting then dinner at the beautiful Driftwood Estate Winery. What Alyssa did not know was that J.C. had worked with the winery’s coordinator arranging for the best table with a gorgeous view looking over the Hill Country. And, of course, the finest bottle of champagne! Alyssa was very eager to get to Driftwood, and J.C. could not hold her off, so they arrived at Driftwood much earlier than scheduled. He was able to reach the coordinator who promised to have everything ready several hours earlier than expected. Cheers to the paying customers who changed tables when J.C. and Alyssa arrived so they could get the best table in the house, the one J.C. had arranged for. Alyssa, who kept thinking, “WOW! They really go all out here.”, opened the celebratory champagne prematurely. Truly, she had no idea what was about to happen. J.C. wanted to take a photo, but Alyssa was not in the mood and said, “Nah! I am good”. J.C. forcefully explained that more people would come and they wouldn’t get another chance so Alyssa reluctantly agreed. Someone was their to take photos and record it all – and what a blessing that was because Alyssa has no recollection of what J.C. said. After he put the ring on, (backwards!) SHE SAID YES! Cue ugly tears from Alyssa!
Alyssa is a registered nurse working at a hospital and J.C. is a treasury supervisor with an oil service company. When they are not working on wedding plans, they both love to workout and go for a run. Attending wine tastings, hunting and fishing for J.C. and hanging out with friends is top priority for these two, but a night in watching a movie is high on the list of treasured time together. They are so excited about their Fall 2020 wedding at Old Dobbin Station and look forward to having family and friends together, dancing, eating and celebrating their love for one another. While their honeymoon travel plans are not completely set, Bora Bora and St. Lucia are definitely on the list!
